The Centre was officially launched on 30th October 2006 by organizing a one day workshop on Recent Trends in Microwave Engineering.
The Centre is given autonomy to generate funds by providing consultancy services and customized R&D solutions for the projects sponsored by other research organizations. The Centre, headed by the Director, is supported for its technical activities by a scientist from the company, an office staff and the PG students of the department of ECE.
The Centre is funded by the company for its recurring and non-recurring expenditure for the initial period of five years. The funds received by the centre are used for the procurement of latest Electromagnetic simulation software and the associated computing facilities.
With regard to the availability of the man power and the technical expertise, the current Director, Dr. V.M. Pandharipande, has more than 30 years of research experience in the broad field of RF & Microwave circuits and Systems including antennas and has more than 100 research papers to his credit published in National and International Journals and conference proceedings. The scientist of our Centre, Dr. V.S. Prasanna Rajan, holds a Ph.D degree specializing in the field of Computational Electromagnetics. He has approximately 9 years of experience in the field, and has post doctoral research experience in the field of electromagnetic simulation.
The basic motivation for establishing the centre is the consideration by the company (AMPL), the national need for quality manpower in the broad area of RF and Microwave Engineering and the proven expertise available in the department in the field of RF and Microwave Engineering.
